MISSION U EVANGELISM WORKSHOP

NEW Witnessing Training Program
"Dealing with Tough Questions"

Saturday, March 10
at 9:00 a.m. at DSLC

This second workshop address questions concerning Christianity prevalent in today's society. You will learn to discover the root issues behind a question and how to respond appropriately. Answers will be provided and reviewed in class. Most importantly, you will learn how to bridge back into sharing the Gospel.

This workshop is FREE to all members of the congregation. Other churches in the area and our synod will be invited to attend for $10 to offset the cost of the workshop materials, breakfast and lunch.

FAMILY TUBING EVENT

Saturday, February 18
at Sunburst Ski Hill, Kewauskum

Meet us in the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and we will carpool. Cost is $15 per person. A sign-up sheet and consent forms are located on the youth bulletin board.

YOUNG WOMEN'S RETREAT

Friday, February 3-Saturday, February 4
Crowne Plaza in Madison

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Mary Hilgendorf, Professor of Education and Ambassador for the Women's Leadership Institute at Concordia University Wisconsin. The cost is $40, hotel cost $99 a night (4 people). The registration deadline is January 14. For more information, see the bulletin board int he gathering area.

FAMILY PROMISE

2012 Family Promise Host Week:
February 19-25

Please sign up to donate items and to volunteer to help host Family Promise. Sign-up sheets are located on the table in the gathering area. Throughout the year Family Promise of Washington County will offer volunteer training sessions for volunteers from all participating churches. The first session "Trauma-Informed Care & Sensitivity" will be offered on Thursday, February 9. We encourage all volunteers to attend this session, especially if you did not attend Kathleen's training session at DSLC last fall. Here is a list of upcoming events:

  • February 19-25 - DSLC hosts overnight guests

COMPASSION CRAFTS

1st and 3rd Saturdays, of the Month from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Join us for making prayer shawls; chemo hats; hats, mittens, and scarves for those in need; baby blankets for crisis pregnancy centers...the list goes on and on. patterns and yarn are available. Coffee and a light lunch breakfast is served. Remember to bring your needles and hooks!

Want to help but don't know how to knit or crochet? We will be happy to teach you! If you have yarn you don't need, please consider donating it to this group.

DSLC BOOK CLUB

Puebla's Restaurant in Hartford

Everyone is welcome! The DSLC Book Club meets the 2nd Saturday of each month. The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast then a lively discussion of the book we just recently read.

Our discussion for February is "The Amish Midwife" by Minny Starns Clark. If you would like this book, see your favorite bookstore or library.

QUILTING CIRCLE

Join us on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, at 1:00 p.m. in the lower level of the church for making quilts for The Orphan Grain Train, Glenhaven Youth Ranch of Arkansas and the Hartford Pregnancy and Health Center. No sewing skills are needed; we will show you what to do. Come and join us for some fun and felllowship.

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

The Grief Support Group meets at Virginia Gehrke's home on the SECOND Tuesday of the month.  Virginia is facilitator.   If you would like to be a part of this support group, you may call Virgina or the church office at 673-5140.

FOOD PANTRY UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who have been generously giving to our Food Pantry Drive. We have helped many families in the Slinger/Hartford area. We want to continue to do even more, so please remember the first Sunday of the month with the corresponding Thusday evening service. The grocery basket will be by the entrance of the church. A member of the board is going to remind you the week before with also a reminder in the bulletin.

The list of common food requests are: hygiene items, jelly/jam, peanut butter, can tuna, box meals where fresh meats can be added, canned fruits, laundry soaps, cleaning supplies, diapers and toilet paper. Remember that cash donations can also be made through the offering plate. Just place the donation in an envelope marked for the food pantry.

May the Holy Spirit guide you to help those in need.

DSLC WOMEN'S GUILD

Join us every first Tuesday of the month at 6:30p.m. for refreshments, and at 7:00 p.m. we have our monthly program followed by a short business meeting. All women of the congregation are welcome. If any questions, please contact Karen Albrecht or the church office, 263-5140.

NON-TRADITION WORSHIP SERVICES

NON TRADITIONAL SERVICES - Starting in October Non-Traditional worship will take place on the first weekend of each month in the 10:45 a.m. service.  Only individual cups will be used in non-traditional worship services. This is hoped to better facilitate the distribution of the sacraments. (Both individual cup and common cup will be used in traditional worship services.)

DSLC SCRIP

Attention Shoppers!!!

Divine Savior Scrip is available every Sunday morning in the gathering area after the service and after most Thursday evening services.

All you need to do is buy scrip (gift cards/certificates) from your favorite retailers and spend them just at you would cash, and Divine Savior Youth receives a percentage. (Percentages can range from 2% to 20%). We have pre-order forms to purchase large amounts or from different mechants.

MEN'S BIBLE CLASS - MONDAYS

MEN'S BIBLE CLASS continues to meet from 6:30 A.M. - 7:15 A.M. - New participants are always welcome. Please join us in room B10 downstairs as we study the books I and II Samuel, "God's Grace Through Kings".
